President, Novato Chess Club

On July 28, I will have the honor of speaking to the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club about how chess can bring hope, friendship, and opportunity to young people around the world.
I’ll share stories about our growing relationships in Ukraine, where chess provides children with connection and stability during wartime, as well as the Novato Chess Club’s support for young Kenyan players who traveled to Uganda for the African Youth Chess Championship.
Chess is more than a game. It is a common language that can build friendships, cross borders, and bring people together in the spirit of peace.
